History: Jade was born deaf, and because of this her parents had to teach her how to sign and write so that she could communicate. During family gatherings she became very good friends with Sen, because like her Sen was also deaf. This bond grew over time and the two soon pestered their families to visit each other frequently.

When Jade was a pre teen, there was a freak snowstorm in the middle of winter during a family gathering at her house in Gaoling. Two waterbending twins named kata and Yuen attacked the family, and trying to protect her family she attacked the two with earth. One of the twins bent ice spikes at her and one went through her heart. One of the family healers was able to save her life, but this left her with a weakened heart that meant she had to keep calm and not be startled.

When she was older she decided to run for the republic senate and made it for the Gaoling representative. Being unable to communicate, she asked Bryke to be her translator. She and Sen visited the republic park, but were raped by two men trying to stop them from being gay. This brought the two closer together and they got their own place in the republic.
